 lonely-1-1

Depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, obsessive compulsive disorder – We are all connected to these afflictions in some way, directly or not. Perhaps through a friend or co-worker, a loved one or within ourselves.

Lilly from Reading Extravaganza is hosting this important although difficult challenge. You may be surprised what is on your reading list which have characters which would be considered to have these mental and emotional challenges.

Since the challenge is still small, it remains intimate. To join or find reviews link to the challenge post via the badge.

Rules - read a minimum of one book on each of the following:

  • Depression
  • Schizophrenia
  • Bipolar Disorder
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

Four (4) books total, with a time limit which has not been specified.

On Goodread’s I have created a shelf labeled – disabilities and mental illness which is where I will be pulling books for this challenge. If anyone has any recommendations within speculative fiction, it would be greatly appreciated.

All reviews will be linked below:

I have more than enough challenges begun and unfinished. I can't pass this one up for more than one reason. I might not finish this challenge. I can at least try. I feel it's important to most of us.

Hi Shellie,

I miss talking to you. It's not enough time in a day by the time you do what you need to do, read books out of love, review and the list goes on. I'm not ignoring any people just trying hard to keep up.(:

I completely understand. I am trying to rethink things on how to better manage my time and its tough. Something has to give.

I was wondering what happened to you on goodreads. I thought I had said something wrong. Any time you would like to chat can email me. :)

I loved Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close and I think it would qualify. The protagonist is a little boy who is grieving the loss of his father and exhibits symptoms of OCD. The audio version has fantastic readers and the story is very moving.

This sounds like a great challenge. I am almost done with school and looking forward to doing more of such things.

Thanks for the recommendation...

I bet you are reading for some fun stuff. But I thought school was just starting as a teacher?
