So we are getting a little break from the Phoenix Valley heat. Just an hour plane ride and it will be the cool California Southern Coast. Not home but hey - almost. Ahhhh! I can feel the cool breeze already. A little bit of business mixed with a lot of fun… It will be cool enough to hike.
I have posted at Layers of Thought before that living in the Sonoran desert in Arizona is like living in a low heat oven during the summer. Its pretty darn warm – today its cooler than normal at a nice 103 degree. With temperatures reaching up to 116 plus, more than several times during the 5 month long summer heat here, it is amazing. I am in awe. Especially of the local cacti. Of course we are all refrigerated here… air conditioned houses, cars, stores, malls, and offices. I’m wondering of course what's it do to our bodies? perhaps for another post.
So maybe I will have some Pacific ocean pictures to post when we get back at the end of next week. Maybe I can finagle some ocean pictures with books….hmmm. So if by chance you try and reach me I will not have access to my computer. Comments will not get posted until I have a few minutes on JD’s. I will get back to each and every comment maybe not as quick as usual, but it will happen. In hope that some are left by you all. I love your comments!
The picture above was taken at a local hiking park here in Hotsdale Scottsdale in May when the Saguaros are blooming their incredible waxy paper like flowers. JD loves to take pictures of them especially if they have birds on the top.
I leave you with a classic little song that sums up the way I feel about my home:

I hope you enjoy your trip! Hiking sounds fantastic.
Have a great time! I hope you'll post pictures when you get back.
Charley - Thank - I'm so excited... I'm off to pack right now. The hiking boots go in first!
Amanda - Yes I will. I think I'll bribe JD into taking them. He's easy and good at it. :)
Enjoy yourself! I don't blame for being so happy about getting away from the heat, living in Texas teaches a person a thing or two about the humid heat. Have fun. :)
Donna - You know I think the moist heat is a bit harder to take, but I'm not so sure. I've only been to Mexico for a week, and not sure it compares to Texas? Almost moved there... a year or so ago.
Hey do you know Amanda - She is from Texas? She commented on this post. :)
Hope you have a wonderful time.
Jenny - thanks so much :)

Shellie,
I hope you enjoy your mini vacation and find some time to relax. As always I'm behind with reading posts.
And by the way California Dreamin is one of my favorite songs from the sixties :)

Enjoy your vacation and "chilling" out in California. My husband wanted to go to AZ for vacation in August because it was "so cheap." I told him "I think because it is soooo hot and no one wants to visit then!" Sounds like I'm right!
Hey, are you back? How was the vacation?
